OUR PROGRAMMES

The School of Media, Language and Communication Studies offers a variety of options for those wanting to learn a new language or build on their existing skills.

By taking a class with us, you will:

  • Gain confidence in communicating in the language of your choice in a supportive learning environment: encouraging you to give it a go!   

  • Gain an understanding of other cultures and people  

  • Learn to improvise and adapt to new situations

  • Enhance teamwork and problem-solving skills by working in pairs or groups

  • Challenge yourself and have fun!  

 

DayTIME Classes

Open to current UEA students
Open and free of charge to all current UEA students (including PGT and PGR students), the Daytime Language Programme offers you the unique opportunity to take a language module as part of, or in addition to your degree modules. Most modules have 3 contact hours per week and will need to be compatible with your degree timetable. Taking a module as a non-credit option means no exams and if you meet the minimum attendance requirement (70%), it will appear on your transcript.

Open to all, including the public
Ready to refresh your school French or chat with locals on your next trip to Greece?  Whether you're starting from scratch or building on what you already know, the UEA Evening Language Programme offers a dynamic 10-week experience tailored to your goals. Our courses are friendly, flexible, and designed for leisure learners - no exams, no pressure. A great way to connect with like-minded people, challenge yourself and have some fun!  

Are you interested in a Modern Languages degree at UEA?  

You’ll study French, Japanese or Spanish to degree level, and hone your ability to communicate confidently at an advanced level in your chosen language. You’ll be able to take modules on language, culture, translation and intercultural communication that will enable you to develop a wide range of skills, preparing you to navigate your future in today’s globalised world.
